Wheel is consisting of a rim and the tires. Both the rim and tire is not perfect when manufactured, both have flaws. The tire is having some flaws when one portion of the thread is slightly thicker than the similar portion of tread somewhere in tires portion. When the portion of the tire is thicker it means that weight of the tire is heavier than the portion where the tire is thinner. In this case the tire is not balance in terms of weight distribution. And to compensate for this error the technician will have to install a piece of lead so that the tire will become balance.
When the front wheel is not balance, the front wheel will not rotate evenly when the car is running. Because of uneven rotation, the tire will vibrate. The vibration will be transferred on a certain front end components also. When the vibration is severe enough it will cause the front end vibration which can be noticeable to the driver.
How to correct the front end vibration at certain speed
Since the cause of vibration is the out of balanced front wheel then to correct this problem, the front wheel must be balance. There are two method of balancing the tire, one is the static balancing wherein the wheel assembly is taken off the car and balance the wheel on a wheel balancer machine. The other method is the dynamic balancing wherein the wheels are balance without taking off the wheel on car. This means that the wheel is balance while the wheel is installed on the car. The best method for balancing the wheels is the dynamic because it considers the influence of the brakes when balancing the wheels.
